3M™ 7908 label materials for sheet-fed and screen printing offer excellent adhesion to plastics with low surface energy, powder coatings or slightly oily metal surfaces. They also allow for effortless sheet-fed processing and are designed to lie flat. Our label film features a coating that enables better ink adhesion. It is suitable for thermal transfer printing. The protective backing is not printable. The material is suitable for permanent labelling and is resistant to moisture, chemicals and high temperatures. It also withstands chemicals and solvents such as those used in the automotive industry. The glossy top coating is characterised by excellent abrasion and chemical resistance. Thanks to the thick adhesive layer, the film adheres very well to textured, low-energy or powder-coated and painted surfaces. The glossy white polyester film features an acrylate adhesive on a PE-coated release liner, thereby offering good stability and adhesion. This label material is generally regarded as the leading industry standard. UL-recognised (file number MH16411) and CSA-approved (file number 99316) – further details can be found in the UL and CSA listings. 3M™ labelling films are available in many variants and offer long-lasting durability, high adhesion and resistance to chemicals used in automotive manufacturing as well as to weathering. Some of these products are UL and CSA approved. They can be printed using the following methods: flexographic printing, screen printing, thermal transfer printing, digital printing, UV inkjet or laser printing. Available with various substrate materials such as polyester, polypropylene, vinyl, speciality papers for the pharmaceutical industry or synthetic materials. Detailed information on individual products can be found on the relevant product pages. Typical applications for 3M™ labelling films include barcode tracking, track & trace, thermal transfer labels, the printing of variable information, brand and instruction labels, warning labels, surface protection and masking, overlamination, UV protection, lamination, bonding and digital window graphics.
Crystal-clear designs With its two-layer construction, 3M™ Laser-Markable Label Stock offers outstanding durability. These materials feature the high-tack 350 acrylic adhesive and bond well to both HSE (high surface energy) and LSE (low surface energy) plastics, as well as metals. Adhesive 350 also offers excellent resistance to extreme temperatures, chemicals and harsh environmental conditions. This prevents the label from curling, peeling or coming away later on.
The 3M™ 92200 polyester film for thermal transfer printing is suitable for surfaces that are difficult to adhere to. The SE100 adhesive offers strong adhesion to materials with low surface energy, and the 62 g/m² coating gives the material excellent tack on rough and textured surfaces. Our 92200 material is ideal for labelling reinforced plastics and composite components for the automotive industry, as well as for other industrial applications. It is also ideal for granular or textured plastics with low surface energy, such as polypropylene (PP) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE), as well as polypropylene and polyamide composites reinforced with mineral additives and fibres. The polyester backing material features a coating that ensures good heat resistance and durability under adverse operating conditions. It also enables better ink adhesion even with conventional printing methods. The double-sided, compacted glassine protective liner ensures consistent die-cutting, simplifies unwinding and reduces problems caused by adhesive leakage at the edges. It is UL and cUL approved. For optimum durability, we recommend the use of resin-based ribbons.
